The Lindenwood women's hockey team (0-4-0, 0-0-0 CHA) fell by a score of 4-2 for the second-consecutive day to St. Cloud State (2-0-0, 0-0-0 WCHA) on Saturday afternoon from St. Cloud, Minn.
GAME OVERVIEW
The Huskies converted an early power-play to take a 1-0 lead at the 7:23 mark of the opening period. Â After the goal, the Lions responded with the next seven shots, but were unable to find the back of the net. Lindenwood earned a power-play late in the opening period but were unable to capitalize. In the opening frame, Lindenwood directed five shots on goal in the opening period.
In the second frame,
Megan Wagner netted her second goal of the season at the 7:43 mark, knotting the score 1-1.
Valerie Caldwell and
Teagan Heaslip assisted on the Wagner goal. After the goal, Lindenwood registered the next six shots, keeping up the pressure. It would be the Huskies who regained the one goal advantage, however as they found the back of the net with 27 seconds left in the second frame. Just 16 seconds later,
Jada Burke recorded her first tally of the season, making the score 2-2 headed into the second intermission.
Lindenwood kept battling for the go-ahead goal, earning its third-powerplay attempt of the game at the with 16:35 left in the final period. On the man advantage, Lindenwood totaled eight shots, but couldn't find the equalizer as it still trailed 3-2 with just over 13 minutes to go in the final period. Shortly after, St. Cloud extended its lead to 4-2, finding the back of the net at the 8:16 mark of the final frame. The Lions were unable to cut into the lead after that, as the Huskies earned the 4-2 victory.
