The Lions took over the top spot in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Men's Division I Ranking this week. Lindenwood received 23 out of 27 first-place votes to earn 573 points in the poll after sweeping Maryville University last weekend. In doing so, the Lions raised their overall record to 6-1-0 overall.
Former number one team Adrian College gave Lindenwood an opening after being swept by No. 9 Stony Brook University to fall to 4-2-0. The Bulldogs dropped to a tie for fourth in the ranking with 506 points. Minot State took over the No. 2 spot with a 4-0-0 mark after sweeping No. 3 Liberty University. The Beavers received three first place votes and 539 points. The Flames, who dropped to 5-2-0, received 510 points in the poll. Iowa State swept conference foe Ohio to improve to 10-0-0 and move into the fourth-place tie with Adrian.
The Lions will host Air Force from the NCAA in a two-game series October 23-24. The Falcons will arrive with a 1-3-0 record after falling to No. 11 Denver twice in a weekend set. The puck drops at 4:10 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday afternoon at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
