The Lindenwood women's soccer team (4-9-1, 4-7-1 GLVC) fell by a score of 2-1 to Missouri-St. Louis (7-6-2, 5-5-2) on Sunday afternoon from Lou Fusz.
MATCH OVERVIEW
The Tritons got off to a quick start, finding the back of the net just one minute and 56 seconds into the match. After the early goal, the game turned into a defensive battle as each team combined for five shots over the next 43 minutes of play. UMSL would carry that one-goal advantage into the halftime break.
UMSL added to its lead three minutes into the second half, making the score 2-0. Lindenwood kept battling, trying to chip away at the Triton lead. The Lions compiled three corner kicks across the second 45 minutes of play while UMSL managed two.
In the 84th minute,
Mia Corrigan was able to slot the ball away off an assist from
Morgan Weller. This marks Corrigan's first goal of the season.
The Tritons were able to hold onto the lead for the remainder of the game, picking up the 2-1 victory.
