The Lindenwood men's soccer team (6-6-1, 6-5-1 GLVC) dropped its game on Sunday afternoon to UMSL (7-6-1, 6-5-1 GLVC) by a score of 3-2 from Lou Fusz.
MATCH OVERVIEW
The first shot of the game didn't come until the 17th minute of the match, which resulted in a Triton goal, as UMSL took an early lead. 15 minutes later, the Tritons struck again, extending their lead to 2-0 late in the first half of play. Offense was hard to come by for the Lions in the half, managing just one shot off the foot of
Zachary Flax.
UMSL took the 2-0 lead into the halftime break.
The Lions compiled four of the first six shots of the second half, putting pressure in the Tritons. That pressure paid off as
Gabriel Miranda found the back of the net in the 68th minute, cutting the UMSL lead to 2-1 with just over 20 minutes to go in the match. Â
Missouri-St. Louis regained its two-goal advantage 11 minutes later, making the score 3-1 in the 79th minute. Lindenwood responded almost immediately, as
Nick Boyles netted his first goal of the season off an assist from
Alex Imig, as the score was 3-2 with seven minutes remaining Â
