The Lindenwood women's soccer team (4-5-1, 4-3-1 GLVC) fell in overtime by a score of 1-0 to Missouri S&T (4-3-2, 3-3-2 GLVC) on Friday night from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.
MATCH OVERVIEW
The two teams were strong in their defensive half of the field throughout the first half, seeing scoring chances come at a premium. Both teams combined for 13 shots in the opening 45 minutes, but only five of those were on frame. The best chance for the Lions came in the 36th minute when
Maggie Weller was denied at the doorstep by the Miners keeper. Lindenwood compiled seven corner kicks during the half, while the Miners registered three.
The game would head into halftime scoreless.
Both teams continued the strong defensive play into the second half as scoring chances were hard to come by. The Miners started to put the ball toward the net across the second half, however as they compiled nine shots, including two on frame. The Lions registered four shots, with just on frame. Neither team was able to find the back of the net, seeing the game head into overtime.
In the extra session, Missouri S&T compiled all three shots, including the game-winning goal at the 5:58 mark of the overtime period, picking up the 1-0 win.
