After slipping to number two last week, the Lions remained second in the latest American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division I Ranking. Lindenwood had last weekend off, but played Roosevelt University two weekends ago and posted two impressive wins to improve to 4-0-0 in the Central States Collegiate Hockey League (CSCHL), to 8-3-0 overall, and to 8-0-0 specifically in ACHA DI play.
After Minot State took over the top spot in the ranking two weeks ago, the Beavers remained number one after sweeping No. 23 Illinois to improve to 6-0-0. Liberty retained the number three spot after taking two from now No. 5 Stony Brook last week. The Flames improved to 9-2-0 while the Seawolves fell to 9-2-1, although the second game of the series required a shootout before Liberty earned the victory. Iowa State jumped from sixth to fourth in the ranking after sweeping No. 9 Central Oklahoma to improve to 15-1-0 overall.
The CSCHL has four of its five members ranked in the top 25. In addition to the Lions and Cyclones, Ohio is No. 14 and Illinois No. 23 after being outside the top 25 the week prior.
The ACHA uses two computer rankings generated by USHSHO.com to create the weekly rankings. A total of 68 teams will compete in ACHA Men's Division I this season. The computer ranking will for the eighth time determine the 20 teams that qualify for the 2022 ACHA Men's Division I National Championships.
The 2022 ACHA Men's Division I National Championships will be hosted March 10-15 for the first time by the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League and the St. Louis Sports Commission, with the event to be contested at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri. This will be the 10
th year of the 20-team format.
Lindenwood has one of its toughest conference tests of the season this weekend as they host No. 4 Iowa State November 13-14. The puck drops at 7:10 p.m. Saturday night and at 2:40 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
