The Lindenwood football team (9-2, 7-0 GLVC) will open the first round of the NCAA Division II Football Championships in Allendale, Mich. as the Lions take on No. 5 Grand Valley State (9-1, 6-1 GLIAC) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. (12:00 p.m. CST) inside Lubbers Stadium.
Lindenwood enters the playoffs as the No. 5 seed in Super Region Three, while the host Lakers earned the No. 4 seed as the final team in the region to secure the first round home game. The Lions enter the postseason with another GLVC Championship this season, while the Lakers finished second in the GLIAC behind No. 1 Ferris State.
Lindenwood is making its second appearance in the NCAA Division II Playoffs, as the Lions earned a 41-38 win against Ouachita Baptist back in 2019. Lindenwood is 5-1 on the road this season, with its only loss came at the hands of NCAA Division I South Dakota State in week two.
The Lions ended the season on a nine-game winning streak, which included another seven-game sweep of the GLVC. Lindenwood has won 14-consecutive games in the league since joining the conference. The Lions dropped their first game of the season to Angelo State, as the Rams are now No. 2 in Super Region Four after finishing the season 9-2.
Lindenwood picked up a big road win over Findlay back in week four, as the Oilers just made it in the playoffs as the seventh seed in Super Region One. The Lions secured another big win on the road in the next week, after taking down then-No. 19 Truman State by a final of 31-21.
Lindenwood ranks in the top-25 in NCAA Division II with 17 interceptions, while giving away just five on the season. Individually,
Drew Seers is among the top-10 tacklers in the country with his 10.8 tackles per game. Seers has added five interceptions, and a team-leading 8.0 tackles for loss. Â
