The Lindenwood wrestling team started the 2021-22 season at the Maryville Open on Saturday in St. Louis, Mo.
 
OVERVIEW
In the Elite Division, Jack Tangen had the highest finish at third place in the 149 pound weight class.  Anthony Michaels (157) and Abner Romero (174) each took fourth in their respective weight divisions.  Jake Harrier won the 141-pound weight class in the Amateur Division, while Collin Hayes took second.  Also finishing in second place in the Amateur Division was Austin Kegley (125) and Luke Dickhaus (197).

Romero lost his semifinal match by one point to his opponent from NCAA Division I Missouri.  Tangen won his first two matches by fall and major decision, before winning his final two sets by sudden victory and decision, respectively.  Nate Trepanier won his first two bouts by pin, before dropping his remaining matches by medical forfeit.
