The Lindenwood women's hockey team (4-13-0, 3-3-0 CHA) picked up its third-consecutive victory after defeating St. Thomas (4-12-1, 2-11-1 WCHA) in overtime by a score of 4-3 on Friday night from Centene Community Ice Center.
GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions got off to a fast start in this one, compiling 31 shots, including 17 on goal in the first frame. Lindenwood recorded eight of the first nine shots of the game, as the pressure paid off.
Sydney Rarick took a nice stretch pass from
Brooke Pioske and found the back of the net at the 7:15 mark of the opening period, giving the Lions a 1-0 lead. Six minutes later, Lindenwood went to work down low as
Sena Takenaka netted her second goal of the season off assists from
Meara Ryan and
Madilynn Hickey. Lindenwood limited St. Thomas to just four shots on goal in the opening frame, holding a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.
The Tommies made some offensive adjustments during the break and started to put the puck to the net, as the Lions were on the penalty kill early on. After killing a pair of penalties, Lindenwood settled in, seeing
Sydney McAsh score her first collegiate goal at the 11:14 mark of the second period, assisted by Ryan and Takenaka.
Natalie Ferenc was strong in the frame, making 11 saves, as the Lions led 3-0 after 40 minutes of play.

The game would remain tied and need overtime.
