The Lindenwood women's basketball team (2-4, 2-0 GLVC) used a fast start to pick up a 69-60 vin ober Quincy (1-6, 0-2 GLVC) on Thursday from Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo.
GAME OVERVIEW
Three Lindenwood players scored in double figures to help vault the Lions to a 69-60 win over the Quincy Hawks in Hyland Arena on Thursday night. Quincy scored the first two points of the game, but the Lions tied it up on the next possession and never looked back, building a lead as big as 25 points late in the third quarter. The win moves the Lions to 2-4 on the season and 2-0 in GLVC play, while the Hawks fall to 1-6 on the year and 0-2 in conference play.
Veterans
Ellen McCorkle and
Julia Ruzevich were joined by freshman
Sophia Horton in double figures. McCorkle lead the Lions in scoring with 18 points on 8 of 12 shooting from the field, including a perfect 2 of 2 from behind the arc. Ruzevich posted her second double-double on the year pouring in 13 points and grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds. Horton, a freshman from Park Hills, Missouri, tied her career high with 12 points in 18 minutes off the bench.
Among other highlights on the night,
Gracie Neff played an efficient role as the Lions top play-maker with 11 assists, setting a new career high for the sophomore from Kansas City, Missouri. While Neff was leading the backcourt, the entire Lions roster dominated the paint. Lindenwood out-rebounded the Hawks 40-28 and out-scored them 40-22 in the paint.
Lindenwood's depth was a major factor in the win with 11 players getting double figure minutes and 11 players scoring in the contest.
