The Lindenwood women's hockey team (3-13-0, 3-3-0 CHA) finished off a sweep of RIT (0-19-0, 0-6-0 CHA) after earning a 3-1 victory on Saturday afternoon from Centene Community Ice Center.
GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions' defensive unit was stout in the opening frame, as they did not allow a single RIT shot on goal and just two shot attempts across the opening 20 minute Each team had a powerplay opportunity in the period, but each failed to score. The RIT netminder put together a strong period, stopping all 11 shots faced, as the game was scoreless at the first intermission.
Both teams settled in offensively in the second frame, as Lindenwood compiled 15 shots on goal, while the Tigers registered 11. RIT got on the board first as the Tigers crashed the net hard and took a 1-0 lead at the 16:12 mark of the second period. All the pressure by the Lions in the period would pay off as
Maddison Stitt found the back of the net on the man advantage with just two seconds remaining in the frame to tie the game, 1-1.

Lindenwood put the puck towards the net in the final frame, trying to break the tie. The Lions compiled 36 shots, including 15 on goal during the final 20 minutes of play. Despite all the chances, the game continued at a 1-1 score late into the period. The Lions went to work in the offensive zone and earned a powerplay opportunity with 1:36 to go in the game. On the man advantage, Sitt game the Lions the lead with 42 seconds remaining, in what was her second goal of the day.
Meara Ryan sealed the victory with an empty netter at 19:41 assisted by Wagner and
Casey Adimey, seeing Lindenwood earn the 3-1 victory.
