The Lindenwood men's volleyball team (3-4, 0-4 MIVA) was defeated, 3-1, by No. 13 Loyola Chicago (8-0, 8-0) on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After dropping the first set, 25-19, the Lions bounced back for a second set victory, 25-18.
- The Lions led, 4-2, in the first set before the Ramblers went on a 5-0 run and never looked back.
- The Lions evened up the second set, 14-14, and never trailed again in the set, winning 25-18.
- Lindenwood had 12 kills in each of the first two sets.
- In the third set, the Lions notched 10 kills.
- The final set saw Lindenwood rack up 11 kills, giving the team 45 for the game, to Loyola Chicago's 57.
- The Lions recorded two more blocks than the Ramblers, 8-6.
- It was the second match this season in which Lindenwood finished with 45 or more kills (52 against Georgetown College (Ky.)).
BOX SCORE LEADERS
- A.J. Lewis led the Lions with 17 kills. Diego Negron had 15 and Phil Swartz had six.
- Swartz's two aces were a team-high. Brian Schwob and Negron each recorded one.
- Alex Pappas and Schwob recorded a team-best four blocks. Negron added three.
- Schwob's 38 assists led Lindenwood.
- Negron recorded nine digs, which was the highest total for the Lions.
