The Lindenwood women's hockey team (2-10-1, 2-10-1 CHA) fell by a score of 4-1 on Sunday afternoon from Centene Community Ice Center from Maryland Heights, Mo.
GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions found themselves down early as Syracuse scored three goals less than 10 minutes into the opening period. The Lions couldn't capitalize on the few chances that they generated in the first period, as the Orange took a 3-0 lead into the first intermission.
Lindenwood battled in the second period, playing a strong defensive frame.
Annika Asplundh stopped all 11 shots faced in the period, but the offense couldn't generate much, and when thy did, the Syracuse netminder had the answer. The Lions registered eight shots on goal in the period and had a powerplay opportunity, but neither team could find the back of the net in the frame.
In the third. Lindenwood surrendered another goal at the 8:27 mark of the period as Syracuse took a 4-0 lead. With just under 5 minutes remaining, Thea Jorgensen got the Lions on the board with a nice wrist shot from the slot.
Bailey Coyne and
Hannah Alt picked up assists on the goal. That would be as close as Lindenwood would get as Syracuse picked up the victory 4-1. Â
