Four Women’s Rugby Players Selected to USA Eagles World Cup Performance Squad

Two current and two former women's rugby players were recently selected to the USA Eagles XV World Cup Performance Team.  Current Lions Samantha Tancredi and Fane Haungatau, and former Lions McKenzie Hawkins and Nene Persinger are among 51 named to the squad from around the country.

The program will hold two, seven-week training blocks at the RugbyTown National Training Center at Infinity Park in Glendale, Colorado before departing for the World Cup in New Zealand at the beginning of August.  The first block will run from March 13 to May 2 and will include the bulk of players named to the Performance Squad.  By the end of May, the 51 players will be narrowed to 40 who will then train at a final World Cup Residency from May 31 to July 21.  The final World Cup team will be announced after the conclusion of the residency no later than July 30.

In addition to the four Lions selected to the Performance Squad, Kapoina Bailey was selected to the extended squad.

The USA Eagles XV's Team will depart for New Zealand on August 2.  Several pre-World Cup matches are proposed for August 21 with the 2021 Rugby World Cup scheduled for September 18 through October 16.
