Softball Shutout in Season-Opening Loss to Ferris State

Lindenwood softball (0-1, 0-0 GLVC) was shutout, 3-0, by Ferris State (1-0, 0-0 GLIAC) in the team's season-opener on Thursday.

GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions opened up their 2021 campaign with Stormee Galka at the plate, where she promptly led off with a single to center field. Galka was stranded at second base, however, and Lindenwood was unable to tally a run. Galka finished with one of four Lindenwood base hits in the game.

After allowing a run-scoring single in the first, sophomore pitcher Amanda Weyh set down seven batters in a row, while striking out three. From the two-out mark in the bottom of the first inning, to the two-out mark in the bottom of the sixth inning, Weyh did not allow a Ferris State batter to reach on a base hit. She allowed just one baserunner from the second to fifth inning.

Outfielder Ceairra Perez finished with two of the Lions' four base hits on Thursday. Perez hit the second triple of her career in the top of the fifth inning on a line shot to center field. For the day, Perez finished 2-2 at the plate.

GAME LEADERS RECORD NOTES
  • It was the first matchup between Lindenwood and Ferris State in program history.
  • Weyh threw her 4th-career complete game on Thursday.
