Lindenwood softball (2-1, 0-0 GLVC) picked up wins against Northwood, 2-1, and Parkside, 7-0, at the Rosemont Dome Invitational on Friday.
GAME ONE RECAP
Both teams were held hitless until the top of the third, when
Karli Goocher led off the inning with a base hit single.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Timberwolves notched back-to-back hits but were held scoreless as
Stormee Galka struck out the final two batters of the inning.
The top of the fifth saw the Lions receive base hits from
Ceairra Perez and
Taylor Bushman, but Lindenwood was unable to scratch a run across. In the seventh inning, the team finally broke out on offense, as two runs in to score on Goocher and Galka singles.
After allowing two base hits and an unearned run in the bottom frame of the inning, Galka settled down to fire a complete game victory against Northwood.

GAME TWO RECAP
Marina Esparza stepped up big in the circle for the Lions, firing seven shutout innings in a complete game victory, while also striking out seven batters. Esparza struckout the side in the second inning after allowing a leadoff base hit.
Through the final four innings against the Rangers, Esparza allowed just one base hit. She matched her previous career-high of seven strikeouts, which also came against Parkside. It was the fifth complete game shutout of Esparza's career.
The Lions scored two runs in the second, three runs in the fifth, and two runs in the sixth as the offense broke out for a season-high seven runs in the contest.
Through the first three games of the season, the Lindenwood pitching staff has allowed just one earned run to score.
