Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Jacobs Scores Twice in Loss on Friday

The Lindenwood women's hockey team (2-12-1, 2-12-1 CHA) fell by a score of 4-2 to Mercyhurst (8-5-1, 8-5-1 CHA) on Friday afternoon from Erie, Pa.  Jane Jacobs scored both goals for the Lions, giving her five on the season.

GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions found themselves down a goal early as the Lakers got on the scoreboard less than three minutes into the opening period. Despite the early goal, netminder Julia Maguire was strong, stopping 10-of-11 shots faced in the period.  Lindenwood struggled to get much going in the first, registering just six shots on goal.  The Lions trailed 1-0 heading into the first intermission.

Lindenwood got off to a quick start in the second frame, tying the game 1-1 as Jane Jacobs found the back of the net for the second time in as many games just 35 seconds into the period. Madilynn Hickey and Casey Adimey would pick up assists on the goal.  Mercyhurst would push back after the goal, sustaining offensive pressure in the Lindenwood zone. That pressure would result in a go-ahead goal at the 6:51 mark, giving the Lakers a 2-1 lead. Less than five minutes later, Mercyhurst would find the back of the net again, giving themselves a 3-1 lead. The Lakers would go on to add one more goal in the period and carry a 4-1 lead after 20 minutes of play.

Lindenwood kept battling in the final frame, putting 11 shots on goal in the third period. Jacobs found the back of the net for the second time in the game at the 14:09 mark, cutting the deficit to 4-2.  That would be as close as the Lions would get, however as the Lakers picked up the 4-2 victory.
