Softball Picks Up Win in Opening Game of Doubleheader at Lincoln Missouri

Lindenwood softball (3-1-1, 0-0 GLVC) picked up an 11-5 comeback win against Lincoln Missouri (1-4-1, 0-0 MIAA) in game one of the doubleheader on Friday.

GAME ONE RECAP
The Lions opened up the scoring in the game on a Karli Goocher double to left field which brought home Megan Clark. After a four-run bottom of the second by Lincoln, the Lions trailed, 4-1, entering the fourth inning.

Lindenwood broke out the sticks and scored seven-straight runs in the frame, which would be a 10-0 scoring streak over the next two innings. In the top of the fourth, the Lions received seven runs on seven base hits and one walk. Morgan Gersch (two-run double), Stormee Galka (RBI double), and Karli Goocher (two-run triple) all recorded extra-base hits in the inning.

In the top of the fifth inning, Lindenwood scored two of its runs on a double to left field off of the bat of Ceairra Perez, which brought home Riley Luetkenhaus and Hannah Johnson. The other run in the inning was on a fielding error by Lincoln's third baseman, scoring Gersch.

Galka (W, 2-0) did not allow a base hit from the third through the sixth inning. She struck out five batters in her six and a thirds inning of work, while walking only one Blue Tiger.
