After seeing their opening season 12-game winning streak snapped Friday night, the Lions rebounded for a 2-1 victory and a series split with Ohio Saturday night at the Bird Arena in Athens, Ohio.
For the first 39-minutes of the game, it looked like neither team would score until
Brendan Murphy found the blade of
Connor Bradley, who deposited the puck in the net with 16-seconds remaining in the second for a 1-0 Lindenwood lead. The Bobcats tied the contest midway through the third, and it was back-and-forth for the next 10-minutes after that as both teams tried to find a lead. It was the Lions who succeeded when
Vegard Faret slipped a pass to
Zach Mitchell for the game-winner with 1:49 left in regulation. Â
Lindenwood outshot Ohio 27-24 and
Stephen Friedland stopped 23 of the 24 pucks he faced to earn the victory in goal. The win lifted the Lions to 13-1-0 overall and to 7-1-0 in the Central States Collegiate Hockey League (CSCHL). Â
After a weekend off, Lindenwood hosts the CSCHL Tournament March 26-28 at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
