No. 11 Men's Lacrosse Wins Third-Straight Behind Strong Defense

The No. 11 Lindenwood men's lacrosse team (5-1, 5-1 GLVC) defeated No. 19 Rockhurst (3-3, 3-3 GLVC) by a final score of 7-3 on Saturday afternoon from Kansas City, Mo. This is the Lions second-consecutive win over a ranked team.

GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions and Hawks were tied 2-2 after 30 minutes of play, with both Lindenwood scores coming from Rob Tucker. Lindenwood outshot Rockhurst 21-14 in the opening half, while causing ten turnovers on the defensive side of the ball, an area that was strong throughout the half. Goalkeeper Connor Ciemiewicz made five saves in the opening half.

The Lions made some adjustments at halftime, outscoring Rockhurst 5-1 across the second half, including all four goals scored in the third quarter. Cam Smith compiled both of his team-leading two goals in the period.

For the game, Lindenwood outshot Rockhurst 46-23.  The 23 shots were the second fewest allowed in a game this season by the Lions.  Ciemiewicz finished the day with a season-high eight saves, picking up the win.

INSIDE THE SCORES
- The Lions scooped up 10 more ground balls than the Hawks, led by Chase Showalter who had four.
- Showalter also caused a team-high five turnovers,
- Eight different Lions registered points in the win.
- Grant Glazier provided a team-leading two assists.
- Ciemiewicz picked up his second win of the season behind eight saves.
 
UP NEXT
The Lions will remain on the road for a matchup against Quincy next Saturday, March 27.  The game is set to begin at 5:00 p.m. from Quincy, Ill.
