Hoog Scores Twice as Men's Soccer Defeats No. 3 Maryville

The Lindenwood men's soccer team (3-6-0, 3-6-0 GLVC) handed No. 3 Maryville (7-1-0, 7-1-0 GLVC) its first loss of the season by a score of 2-1 on Friday night from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo. Isaac Hoog scored both goals for the Lions
 
MATCH OVERVIRW
The Lions carried the majority of the play in the first half, possessing the ball and `creating chances as Lindenwood registered six shots on goal, while generating five corner kicks in the opening half. In the 31st minute off of one of those corners, Hoog pounced on a loose ball in the box and slotted the ball in the bottom right corner of the net to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. 11 minutes later, Hoog would strike again with his right foot as the Arnold, Mo. native buried his second goal of the night, giving Lindenwood a 2-0 lead,

The Lions would carry the 2-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Saints cut the deficit in half just twelve minutes into the second 45 minutes. After the early goal, the Lindenwood defense tightened up with the help of goalkeeper Zachary Martin.  The Sophomore made seven saves on the night, with four coming in the second half.  The Lions protected the lead, seeing the game reach its final result of 2-1.
