Lindenwood softball (12-4-1, 7-3 GLVC) picked up a pair of wins against Rockhurst (11-7, 6-4 GLVC) on Saturday.
GAME ONE RECAP
The Lions won game one, 4-3, in a close affair to kick off the doubleheader.
Stormee Galka fired seven innings of three-run (two earned) ball, striking out five, and picking up her fifth win of the season.
Hannah Johnson (2),
Whitney Wendel (1) and Galka (1) all drove in runs in the win, while Johnson hit her second long ball of the campaign.
Rockhurst took an early 1-0 lead in the contest after scoring an unearned run in the opening frame. The Lions responded in the bottom half with a run-scoring double off the bat of shortstop Wendel, which brought home Galka.
After a scoreless top of the second inning, Lindenwood continued to keep the bats rolling, this time with Johnson getting in on the fun with a solo shot over the center field wall. Galka also added an RBI double in the second, scoring
Ceairra Perez.
The Hawks tallied one run in the top of the third to make it a 3-2 game, but the Lions would hold the lead for the remainder of the ballgame, to start the season 5-0 within the friendly confines of the Lou Brock Sports Complex. Galka is 5-0 this season with a 3.06 era. Her five wins leads the pitching staff, and she has also amassed three complete games.

GAME TWO RECAP
Game two also went to Lindenwood, 3-1, giving the Lions the successful doubleheader sweep over GLVC-rival Rockhurst.
Amanda Weyh went the distance, allowing no earned runs, and striking out four. Weyh has lowered her ERA to a team-leading 1.39, en route to her fourth pitching win of the season.
Weyh opened game two with 3.2 perfect innings, while striking out three Hawks. The Lions captured an early lead in the bout as
Karli Goocher doubled into left center, scoring
Stormee Galka and

A Weyh single to shortstop, and an error by the fielder, allowed Galka to race home to push the Lindenwood lead to 3-0. Rockhurst would score its first run of the game in the top of the sixth on a little league home run (unearned), but that would be it for the team's offense, as just two batters reached base.
The sophomore Weyh has thrown 50.1 innings this season, which leads, the team, and has six complete games (two shutouts).
