Softball Records Two Shutouts in Sweep of Lincoln Missouri

Lindenwood softball (16-4-1, 9-3 GLVC) strung together two shutouts in a Tuesday sweep of Lincoln Missouri (3-18-1, 1-9 MIAA).

GAME ONE RECAP
Madison Corwell got the start in the first game of the slate, lasting just one third of an inning, and allowing three batters to reach. Brianna Macias came on in relief and earned her first-career victory, pitching four and two thirds innings of one-hit, zero earned run ball, with three strikeouts. Amanda Weyh closed the contest for her first save of the season after striking out two Blue Tigers in two scoreless innings.

After stranding the bases loaded with one out in the top of the first, Lindenwood kicked off of the bottom of the frame with two-straight singles. Both runners were left on, however, after a double play line out and a foul out to third base.

From the second inning to the bottom of the fourth, both teams were held hitless. After Chloe Honchar walked and stole second, Hannah Johnson lined a triple into right center to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. Megan Clark followed up with a run-scoring single to double the Lindenwood lead, 2-0.

The final two runs of the first game came in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single to left center off the bat of Taylor Bushman, and a sacrifice fly double play from Ceairra Perez.

Amanda Weyh continued her scoreless streak on the mound, picking up her sixth win, and lowering her ERA to 1.06 on the season. Weyh has now thrown 23-straight innings of zero earned runs for the Lions, and leads the team with eight complete games and four shutouts.

A pitching duel saw both teams record a combined seven hits and walk three times in the seven inning contest. Lincoln Missouri was held to two hits in the game, both of which came from the same player. Ceairra Perez had three of the five Lindenwood hits in the win.

The Lions' lone run in the ballgame came on a Ceairra Perez walk off base hit with one out to right field to bring home Megan Clark, who reached on a walk to begin the bottom of the seventh inning. Lindenwood has won six games in a row, and the team is 10-0 at home this season.
