The Lindenwood men's soccer team (1-2-0, 1-2-0) GLVC defeated Truman State (1-2-0, 1-2-0 GLVC) by a final score of 4-3. The Lions scored two goals in the final eight minutes of regulation to send it into overtime.
MATCH OVERVIEW
Lindenwood found themselves down early as the Bulldogs converted from the penalty spot just over a minute into the game. Truman would find the back of the net again four minutes later and extend its lead to 2-0.
Isaac Hoog cut into the Bulldog lead as the Freshman forward netted his first career goal in the 11 minute, making it 2-1 Truman. After the stretch of early goals, both teams tightened their play in the defensive zone. Lindenwood created four corners in the half, Truman had two.
The Bulldogs carried a 2-1 lead into halftime.
Fifteen minutes into the second half, Truman State would regain the two-goal lead. The game remained 3-1 until the 83rd minute when
Gabriel Herrera put one past the Bulldog keeper off a loose ball from a corner kick. Five minutes later, Herrera calmly buried a free kick to knot the game at 3-3 with just over two minutes remaining. The Lions outshot the Bulldogs 8-6 in the half, while creating six more corners than Truman.
In the overtime period,
Feho Sabotic netted the game winner two minutes into the OT, completing the comeback for the Lions.
