Women's Soccer Plays to 2-2 Draw at William Jewell

The Lindenwood women's soccer team (3-0-1, 3-0-1 GLVC) played to a 2-2 draw with William Jewell (0-2-2, 0-2-2 GLVC) on Sunday afternoon from Liberty, Mo. The Lions finished the game with 28 shots.  Of those 28 shots, 15 were on goal.

MATCH OVERVIEW
The Cardinals put early pressure on the Lions as they earned two corners in the first nine minute of play. Jewell found the back of the net in the ninth minute off one of those corners, giving them a 1-0 lead.  The goal was the first given up by Lindenwood this season, ending its second longest shutout streak during the NCAA era.  The Lions responded quickly as Bailey Bologna netted her first goal of the season just seven minutes later, knotting the game at 1-1. The Lions continued to control the game, totaling 17 shots, including eight on frame during the first 45 minutes.  Lindenwood also generated eight corner kicks in the half.

The game was tied 1-1 heading into halftime.

The game remained tied until the 67th minute when Maggie Weller took the ball off a William Jewell defender, made a move around the Cardinals keeper and put it in the back of the net to give Lindenwood a 2-1 lead. The Lions protected the lead until William Jewell earned a free kick in the 87th minute and took advantage, tying the game 2-2

The Lions would need overtime for a second-straight game.

The two teams combined for just five shots during the OT as the game would finish in a 2-2 draw.
