No. 25 Women's Soccer Suffers Setback Against UMSL

The Lindenwood women's soccer team (7-1-2, 7-1-2 GLVC) suffered its first loss of the season on Friday night a 1-0 defeat in overtime to UMSL (4-4-3. 4-4-3 GLVC)
 
MATCH OVERVIEW
The game was a defensive battle throughout, seeing each team be very strong in the final third of the field.  The Loins generated seven shots on the UMSL frame in the opening half, while the Tritons registered six on the Lindenwood net.  Each goalkeeper had the answer when called upon, as Sam Blazek made a pair of saves in the opening half.

The game remained scoreless heading into halftime,

The second half was more of the same, a defensive battle between the two teams.  The Lions registered nine shots during the second 45 minutes, but the game continued to be tied 0-0 well into the late stages of the half.  Lindenwood had its best chance of the game in the final minute of the second half when Kaitlyn Weinrich hit the crossbar off a free kick. Despite the chance, the game went into overtime knotted 0-0.

In the overtime session, UMSL was able to break through in the final minute of the first 10-minute period to earn the 1-0 victory.
