Softball Suffers Sweep at the Hands of Drury

Lindenwood softball (19-7-1, 12-6 GLVC) was swept in a road doubleheader at Drury (18-7, 12-2 GLVC) on Monday.

GAME ONE RECAP
The Lions fell, 2-1, in a close opening game of Monday's doubleheader. Amanda Weyh pitched all six innings for Lindenwood, allowing two unearned runs, and striking out three. Weyh moves to 8-4 on the season, yet has still not allowed an earned run in her last 38 innings (through game one).

A day after scoring 19 runs in a two-game sweep of Missouri S&T, the Lions were limited to one run on three hits in game one on Monday. Ceairra Perez, Stormee Galka, and Amanda Weyh finished with the lone hits for the team, and Weyh had the sole RBI.

Drury brought home two unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, giving the Panthers a 2-0 lead. In the top of the seventh, Weyh singled into left field to drive in Whitney Wendel, and cut the Drury lead in half. Weyh would be left stranded on the base paths, however, as Lindenwood's three-game winning streak came to a halt.

GAME ONE LEADERS GAME TWO RECAP
Four pitchers made their way onto the mound for Lindenwood in an 8-4 loss in game two. Stormee Galka received the starting nod, but lasted just one inning, allowing four runs. Marina Esparza and Amanda Weyh gave up two earned runs each in relief, and Brianna Macias got one out.

After going down early, 4-0, the Lions scored a run on a bases loaded walk in the top of the second inning. Lindenwood would scratch across two more runs in the third on a Hannah Johnson run-scoring single to center field, and an Esparza single to right to bring home Weyh.

The final Lions run of the contest came in the fourth inning on a Whitney Wendel double that allowed Galka to race home. The loss marked just the second time this season that Lindenwood has been swept, with the previous coming at William Jewell on March 21.
