Men's ice hockey fell to Minot State 2-1 Sunday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Men's Division I National Championship at the Maryville Hockey Center in Chesterfield, Missouri.
After a defensive battle in the first two periods with no goals being scored, the Beavers broke through at the 12:03 mark of the third to take a 1-0 lead. They increased the margin to 2-0 with 5:05 remaining. The Lions answered quickly with a
Ryan Finnegan goal assisted by
Zach Martin and
Connor Bradley just 35-seconds later. Lindenwood frantically tried to get the contest tied, but time ran out in the game and on the Lions season.
Lindenwood outshot Minot State 30-25 and
Stephen Friedland stopped 23 of the 25 shots he faced for the Lions, who finish the season with an overall record of 16-2-0. They posted a 9-1-0 record in the Central States Collegiate Hockey League to win the regular season title, and defeated Ohio University and Iowa State to win the CSCHL Tournament.
