Men’s Ice Hockey Falls in National Quarterfinals

Men's ice hockey fell to Minot State 2-1 Sunday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Men's Division I National Championship at the Maryville Hockey Center in Chesterfield, Missouri.

After a defensive battle in the first two periods with no goals being scored, the Beavers broke through at the 12:03 mark of the third to take a 1-0 lead.  They increased the margin to 2-0 with 5:05 remaining.  The Lions answered quickly with a Ryan Finnegan goal assisted by Zach Martin and Connor Bradley just 35-seconds later.  Lindenwood frantically tried to get the contest tied, but time ran out in the game and on the Lions season.

Lindenwood outshot Minot State 30-25 and Stephen Friedland stopped 23 of the 25 shots he faced for the Lions, who finish the season with an overall record of 16-2-0.  They posted a 9-1-0 record in the Central States Collegiate Hockey League to win the regular season title, and defeated Ohio University and Iowa State to win the CSCHL Tournament.
