The Lindenwood men's volleyball team (4-12, 1-12 MIVA) took Purdue Fort Wayne (6-7, 6-7 MIVA) to five sets before falling, 3-2, on Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lions jumped out to an early 1-0 lead winning the opening set, 25-22.
- The team tallied a squad match-high 14 kills in the set.
- After the Mastodons evened up the score, 8-8, the Lions won the next three points to go up 11-8. The team did not trail past this point in the opener.
- The second set went to Purdue Fort Wayne, 25-20.
- The Lions had 12 kills in the set.
- Lindenwood balanced the score, 16-16, however Purdue Fort Wayne ended the set on a 9-4 run to tie the contest at 1-1.
- With a third set victory, the Mastodons went up 2-1, winning 25-20.
- The team recorded 13 kills in the third set.
- Lindenwood was able to even up the match at 2-2 with a 25-22 fourth set win.
- For the second-straight set, the Lions notched 13 kills.
- The Lions jumped out to an early 7-2 lead on a Diego Negron kill.
- After the Mastodons came within one point of the Lions' lead, 23-22, the team won the final two points to force a fifth set.
- The fifth and final set was captured by Purdue Fort Wayne, giving them the win.
- The Lions outblocked the Mastodons, 13-10, in the match.
