Lindenwood softball (22-10-1, 15-9Â GLVC) collected two comeback victories in a doubleheader sweep over McKendree (21-11, 18-8) on Sunday.
GAME ONE RECAP
Marina Esparza received the game one start for Lindenwood against McKendree, pitching three innings of two earned run ball, and striking out two. Esparza was slapped with a no decision in the game, after giving way to
Amanda Weyh, who earned the win in relief. Weyh tossed four innings while striking out two and earning her team-leading 10th pitching victory of the campaign.
The Lions trailed for a majority of the contest, with all four runs coming in the bottom of the fifth, while trailing 3-0. A two-out bases loaded walk to
Whitney Wendel brought home
Chloe Honchar for the team's first run in the game. A pinch hit single from
Morgan Gersch scored three runs to give Lindenwood its first lead against McKendree in the first game, 4-3.
The Lions amassed four hits in game one, and walked five times, setting up their comeback victory.
Taylor Bushman finished with two of Lindenwood's four hits in the 4-3 win over McKendree.

GAME TWO RECAP
Stormee Galka got the start in the second game, pitching 6.2 innings for the Lions, and allowing just two earned runs. Galka struck out five batters in the game.
Amanda Weyh came on in relief for the second-straight game, pitching 0.1 innings, and picking up the win.
Galka opened up the first inning with a scoreless frame, striking out one batter. The first Lindenwood run of the game came in the bottom of the first inning on a
Hannah Johnson single through the left side that brought
Taylor Bushman home to score. Galka would follow with two strikeouts in a 1-2-3 top of the second.
The Bearcats would respond with a two-run inning in the top of the third, to take the lead, 2-1. The two teams would trade scoreless frames until the bottom of the sixth, when
Kayla Scholz pinch hit an RBI single to center field to drive in Bushman and even up the game at 2-2.
After a scoreless top of the seventh,
Chloe Honchar and
Ceairra Perez lined back-to-back singles with two outs to bring up Bushman with runners on and a chance to win. A single up the middle gave the Lions their second come-from-behind win in as many games, 3-2.
