Lindenwood softball (23-11-1, 16-10 GLVC) split a doubleheader on the road at Southern Indiana (16-21, 13-15) on Saturday.
GAME ONE RECAP
The Lions opened up the doubleheader with a 3-2 win over the Screaming Eagles in extra innings.
Stormee Galka pitched four innings in the start, while striking out eight, and allowing just one earned run. Galka did not walk a Southern Indiana batter in the contest.
Amanda Weyh pitched four innings in relief of Galka, earning her 12th win of the season, and allowed one earned run.
After a
Ceairra Perez leadoff single to begin the game, she would advance to third on a sacrifice bunt and wild pitch, bringing up
Whitney Wendel with a chance to give the Lions an early lead. Wendel grounded out to third, driving in Perez, and putting the team up 1-0.
Following two shutout innings, the Screaming Eagles put up their first run in the bottom of the third, on a double to right field. Galka would hold the scoring at one, however, striking out the final two batters swinging back-to-back.
The Lions did not take long to respond, scoring in the top of the fourth, on a
Megan Clark double into the right center gap that brought in Wendel. This would be the last run scored by Lindenwood until the top of the eighth, when a fielding error by the Screaming Eagle's third baseman allowed Wendel to race home for the game winning run.

Amanda Weyh got the start and pitched all but one third of an inning, striking out two, and allowing four runs (one earned).
Marina Esparza struck out the lone batter she faced in relief.
After both teams were held scoreless through the first three innings,
Whitney Wendel led off the top of the fourth with a double to left center. After advancing to third on a sacrifice bunt, a
Hannah Johnson groundout put the Lions on top, 1-0.
With the game tied, 1-1, a
Ceairra Perez single down the left field line scored
Morgan Gersch. The team added to their 2-1 lead with a
Stormee Galka groundout that brought home
Megan Clark, extending the Lindenwood lead to 3-1.
The Screaming Eagles would respond with a three-run bottom of the sixth, all of which were unearned runs. These would be the final runs scored in the game, giving Southern Indiana a 4-3 victory in game two.
