The No. 10 Lindenwood baseball team (24-5, 20-5 GLVC) earned a slim 10-9 win over Maryville (13-20, 11-14 GLVC) in 11 innings on Friday afternoon in St. Louis, Mo.

GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions got off to a slow start offensively, but had quality pitching from
Tyler Cassmeyer as he faced the minimum through the first four innings. Lindenwood manufactured a run in the top of the fifth inning after
Bryce Beckmann beat out an infield single to put the Lions ahead 1-0. The Lions put together a stellar fifth inning with two outs.Â
Beau Collier belted a solo shot to right field to make it a 2-0 lead, while
Sam Kissane doubled the lead with a two-run shot to right field.

Maryville generated a run in the bottom of the sixth inning, but the Lions held on to the three-run lead after ending the inning on a double play.Â
Kolby Schulte extended the lead to 5-1 after bringing in Beckmann on a sacrifice fly. The run proved to be important, as the Saints tied the game in the bottom of the inning with a four-run home run. Lindenwood scored a pair of runs, including an RBI double by
Jayce Maag that made it a 7-5 lead for Lindenwood. Maryville again tied the game up in the bottom half of the inning, as the two teams were tied 7-7 after nine innings.

Calvin Nowak led off the 10th inning with a walk, stole second, and stole third to put himself it scoring position. After a walk by
Austin Schmitt, the Lions executed the double-steal to get Nowak across the plate for the 8-7 lead. The Saints did not go way and tied the game in the bottom half to continue the first game of the series. Collier gave the Lions a two-run lead after bring in a pair of runs on a single to right field. Lindenwood held on to the slim lead, and closed out the first game with a 10-9 victory.
