No. 2 Women's Lacrosse Cruises Past Regis in First Round of NCAA Tournament

The No. 2 Lindenwood women's lacrosse team (14-1, 7-0 GLVC) opened the NCAA Tournament with a 14-9 win over No. 10 Regis on Friday afternoon from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo. The win was Lindenwood's first NCAA Tournament victory since 2017.
 
GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions got off to a fast start as they led 3-0 just past the halfway mark of the opening half. Regis battled back, however scoring three of the next four goals, cutting the Lindenwood lead to one. The Lions closed out the half on a high note, scoring the final two goals of the first 30 minutes of play, taking a 6-3 lead into halftime. Five different Lindenwood players found the back of the net in the half, led by Paige Sutton, who scored twice.  In the half, the Lions outshot the Rangers 19-11, while scooping up 12 ground balls to Regis' nine.

Lindenwood created some separation with a strong start to the second half, The Lions scored six of the first eight goals of the half, including five straight. In the run, Erin McGuire and Lexy Biller provided the offense, scoring a pair of goals each. In the half, Lindenwood outshot the Rangers 15-14, while forcing eight turnovers on the defensive end.

- Biller caused two turnovers, a team-high.
- Emma Arnold, Lexy Biller, and Eleanor Kast each scooped up a team-leading three ground balls
- Kast made seven saves, picking up her seventh win of the season.

The Lions return to action on Sunday when they take on No. 1 UIndy in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals.  The game is set to begin at 12:00 p.m. from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.
