The No. 2 Lindenwood women's lacrosse team (15-1, 7-0 GLVC) earned a birth in the NCAA Tournament Final Four after defeating No. 1 UIndy (14-2, 6-1 GLVC) by a score of 17-13 on Sunday afternoon from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles Mo.
GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood controlled the game in the opening half, compiling nine draw controls to the Greyhounds three. As a result, the Lions jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead just 12 minutes into the game, including a pair of goals by
Paige Sutton. The junior attack found the back of the net two more times in the half as the Lions took an 8-3 lead into halftime. Across the first 30 minutes of play Lindenwood outshot Indianapolis 13-11, while forcing five Greyhound turnovers.
In the second half, each team traded goals, as the score was 12-6 in favor of the Lions with just over 13 minutes to go in the half. The Greyhounds made a push, however, scoring the next three goals, cutting the deficit to three with 11;29 remaining in the period. That would be as close as they would get, though as the Lions picked up the victory, 17-13. In the half, the Lions had seven different players find the back of the net, led by
Carly Fedorowski and
Emma Wildhart, who each scored twice.
