The Lindenwood men's soccer team (1-4-0, 1-3-0 GLVC) picked up its first win of the season on Friday, defeating William Jewell (1-5-0, 1-3-0 GLVC) by a score of 1-0 from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.
MATCH OVERVIEW
The first half was a defensive battle as each team was trying to settle into the game. The teams combined for just three shots across the first 25 minutes of play.
Near the end of the first half, Lions earned a throw-in and
Zachary Flax did the rest. Flax took the throw from
Parkin Harape and found the top right corner of the goal from about 30 yards out.
Lindenwood would take that 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half, the Lions carried the pace of play, compiling 12 shots, including five on frame. The best chance for Lindenwood came in the 56th minute, again by Flax who hit the crossbar from a header.
Lindenwood was able to see the game out after that, earning a 1-0 victory, picking up its first win of the season.
