The Lindenwood women's hockey team (0-1-0, 0-0-0 CHA) dropped it season-opener to No. 1 Wisconsin (1-0-0, 0-0-0 WCHA) by a score of 8-1 on Friday night from Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Mo.
Megan Wagner scored the lone goal for the Lions.
GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions killed off an early power-play opportunity for the Badgers less than three minutes into the game. Lindenwood got a man advantage chance of its own shortly after, but were unable to capitalize. Wisconsin got on the board first late in the opening period, and would take a 1-0 lead into the intermission. The Lions compiled six shots, including four on goal in the opening frame.
During the second 20 minutes of play, the Lions put more pucks to the net, registering 11 shots, five on frame in the second period. It would be Wisconsin who found the back of the net however as the Badegrs extended their lead, netting four goals in the second frame, taking a 5-0 lead into the locker room.
The Lions kept battling in the third, as Lindenwood got on the board at the 5:01 mark of the third frame when Wagner found the back of the net for her first goal of the season.

Valerie Caldwell picked up assists on the tally, marking Caldwell's first point as a Lion.
The Badgers would go on to add two more goals in the final period, picking up the 8-1 victory.
