Women's Volleyball Downs Drury, 3-0, to Open Conference Play

The Lindenwood women's volleyball team (6-3, 1-0 GLVC) opened up conference play with a 3-0 sweep of Drury (8-4, 1-2 GLVC) on Friday night.

MATCH OVERVIEW
After a two week hiatus from competing, the Lions did not skip a beat in their return to play, besting conference-rival Drury, 3-0. Lindenwood picked up a victory in each set by at least seven points, including a 12-point win in the third and final set. The Lions finished with 19 more kills, four more aces, three more blocks, 15 more assists, and 16 more digs than their counterpart.

The first set saw Lindenwood open up with a 1-0 match advantage after winning, 25-18. The Lions tallied six more kills in the set, as a late run was all the team needed. Lindenwood tallied a .227 team hitting percentage while limiting Drury to a .133 attack percentage.

The second and third sets saw continued dominance from Lindenwood, riding strong offensive scoring streaks and hindering the Drury attack. The second set was won, 25-17, by the Lions giving them a 2-0 lead in the match. The third set was the largest margin of victory by Lindenwood in the match and earned the team a conference-opening win.

The Lions have now won nine-consecutive sets dating back to the final day of the Flagler Saints Classic in St. Augustine, Fla. on Sept. 11.
