Men’s Soccer Edged in Season Opener

The Lindenwood men's soccer team (0-1-0, 0-0-0 GLVC) fell in its season opener by a score of 1-0 to No. 12 Rogers State (2-0-0, 0-0-0 MIAA) on Sunday afternoon from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.

MATCH OVERVIEW
The Lions put together a strong opening half, registering eight shots, including three on frame.  In the 12th minute, Parkin Harape earned a free kick, but his shot was blocked by the Hillcats defense.

Lindenwood earned two corners across the first 45 minutes of play, as did Rogers State. It would be the Hillcats who found the back of the net first off one of those corners in the 33rd minute, taking a 1-0 lead

Rogers State would take that lead into the halftime break.

The Lions made a push early in the second half to tie the game as they would find the back of the net in the 60th minute from a corner kick, but it was waived off due to the ball being out of bounds.

Lindenwood generated four shots across the second 45 minutes of play but were unable to tie the game as Rogers State picked up the 1-0 victory.
