Men's Basketball Secures 80-77 Road Win on Saturday

The Lindenwood men's basketball team (6-8, 2-4 GLVC) took down Quincy (9-8, 2-5 GLVC) by a final of 80-77 on Saturday night in Quincy, Ill.

GAME OVERVIEW
The two teams played even through the early stages of the game, but Quincy found momentum near the halfway point, building a 12-point lead with 9:09 to go in the first half.  Brandon Suggs scored six-straight points for the Lions, but Quincy continued to stay hot on the offensive end to take a 34-20 lead with 4:27 remaining.  Brandon Trimble knocked down back-to-back shots, to ignite the Lions clawing back to just a 36-33 deficit after 20 minutes of play.

The Hawks wasted not time getting back to their offensive successes, but the Lions made sure that would be short lived.  Lindenwood locked in on defense, and found momentum in the offensive zone to chip away at the Quincy lead.  Kevin Caldwell Jr. knocked down a key three pointer at the 4:25 mark to make it a one-point game.  Less than one minute later, Trimble tied the game at 67-67 with a huge three pointer at the 3:35 mark.

Suggs played great basketball all night, and his layup with 2:31 to go in the game gave Lindenwood a two-point lead.  Lindenwood hit 11-of-12 from the free throw line in the final two minutes to pull out the 80-77 road victory on Saturday.

Lindenwood shot 41.9 percent from the field on Saturday, and made 23-of-27 from the charity stripe.  The Lions accumulated seven steals and forced Quincy into 14 turnovers, which led to 14 points on the other end of the court.  Romelo Burrell hit 15 free throws as part of his 26 points, as he also grabbed 10 boards to secure the double-double.
