The Lindenwood men's volleyball team (1-3) picked up its first win of the season in a 3-0 sweep of the Central State Marauders (0-5) in Hyland Arena on Saturday night.
OVERVIEW
A.J. Lewis had a great night on the court, racking up 11 kills, four aces, and 15.5 total points. Lewis also had 23 attacks, while
Phil Swartz followed with 19, and
Alex Pappas with 11.
The Lions' closest win of the night was the second one, coming out on top with a tight score of 25-23. The flow of play was very back and forth throughout the second set, as the two teams were nearly identical in the stat sheet.
Other noteworthy performances came from
Connor Sheehan, who lead the team in assists with 20, and
Hunter Bailey, who came up with the highest hitting percentage of the night for Lindenwood at .500.
Brian Schwob stepped in during the third set and put himself on the leaderboard as well, coming in second on the team in assists with nine, and ranking in the top three for hitting percentage with a .333.
The Lions gained their momentum in the final set, outperforming Central State in various categories. The biggest gap between the teams during this set was in hitting percentage, where Lindenwood hit .273 while the Marauders only hit .040.

The Lions will kick off GLVC play on Friday, February 5th for a 7:00p.m. match against Maryville University at Hyland Arena.
