Men's Volleyball Sweeps Maryville at Home

The men's volleyball team (2-3) swept Maryville (3-6) in an exhibition match in Hyland Arena on Saturday night.

OVERVIEW
The Lions dominated the first set with a 25-16 final score, and Phil Swartz started his strong offensive presence here with seven kills, which is how many Maryville had as a collective during the set. AJ Lewis and Eric Winn each added two kills to the mix for Lindenwood, while Brian Schwob and Hunter Bailey tallied one each as well.

Schwob was a consistent piece of the puzzle tonight, beginning the night with 11 set assists in the first set, which he also went on to add to the second set. The Annapolis, Mo. native finished his game with 10 set assists in the third set, putting his grand total for the night at 32.

Schwob was also one of five Lions who added two service aces to the stats- Lewis, Swartz, Diego Negron, and Carter Stenmark were the other contributors.

Lindenwood ran away with the second set, only allowing Maryville 11 points in the 25-11 victory. The Lions' defense was on point with 10 digs, and Scwhob led the way with four total. Kyle Deutschmann had the most digs overall though with 11 total, which complemented his 8 total receptions and 1.000 reception percentage for a very strong defensive performance.

Negron went four for four on his kills in set two and added three more kills in Lindenwood's final set of the night, which they won 25-16. The junior outside hitter had the second most kills of the night behind Swartz (11) with nine overall and added 14 receptions and five digs to his stats, proving to be both an offensive and defensive asset for the Lions.
