Fuhring Drops 25 Points in Women's Basketball Loss to Rockhurst

The Lindenwood women's basketball team (9-8, 6-4 GLVC) lost by just one point to Rockhurst (10-6, 6-4 GLVC) by a final of 58-57 on Saturday in Kansas City, Mo.
 
GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood jumped out to an early lead, as a three-point shot by Devin Fuhring made it a 7-2 advantage in the first three minutes.  The Lions continued to stay in front, and a layup by Fuhring with 43 seconds left in the first quarter put the Lions up by seven points.  In the final seconds, Emily Benzschawel scored on a fast break to give Lindenwood a 21-11 lead.
 
Fuhring knocked down a shot from behind the arc to give the Lions a 13-point lead at the 8:25 mark.  Rockhurst began to chip away at the Lindenwood lead, as the Lions cooled down from the field and committed nine turnover in the second quarter.  The Hawks were able to get within one possession, as the Lions held a 28-26 lead at the break.
 
Rockhurst tied the game on the first possession of the second half, but the Lions were able to regain the lead immediately.  Even though it was a slim lead, the Lions had the upper hand for the first eight minutes of the third quarter.  Rockhurst took the lead at the 1:55 mark, and headed into the fourth quarter with a 46-42 advantage over the Lions.
 
Lindenwood battled through the adversity, but Rockhurst was able to control a seven-point lead halfway through the final quarter.  With 2:02 left to play and the Lions down by six, Benzschawel drained a three pointer to make it a 58-55 ballgame.  Fuhring hit back-to-back free throws at the one-minute mark to bring the game within one point, but Rockhurst held on for the 58-57 win over Lindenwood.
