ST. CHARLES, MO. - The Lindenwood field hockey team grabbed their first Division I win over Queens in a 3-1 victory at MICDS on Sunday afternoon.
GAME OVERVIEW
Despite the last minute location change due to unprecedented field issues, the Lions remained unfazed, knocking in the first goal of the game less than seven minutes in.
Isabella Shannon found the back of the net off a rebound from an initial shot that deflected off a Queens' defender.
Lindenwood's offensive presence remained strong, this time with a
Samantha Garden goal off a dual assist by
Mia Simpson. The Lions didn't let up, finding the back of the net again just eight minutes later. Simpson got her own unassisted goal at the 34:26 mark.
Leah Brozovich got limited action, only having to make one save during her 50 minutes in net.
Yamilet Bravo-Ayala played the remainder of the game in goal, subbing in for the final ten minutes of play. The Lions held Queens to limited scoring opportunities throughout the entirety of the game, but they were finally able to sneak one in after 54 minutes of play, robbing the Lions of their shutout opportunity.
