The Lindenwood men's soccer team (2-8-1, 1-3-0 SL) fell by a score of 3-2 to Western Illinois (1-6-5, 1-1-2 SL) om Saturday afternoon from Macomb, Ill.
GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood got on the board in the eighth minute, as
Devin Livingstone found the back of the net for the first time in his collegiate career, giving the Lions a 1-0 lead. Western Illinois tied the game 1-1 in the 25th minute. After the goal, Lindenwood pushed to take the lead, as
Anis Smajlovic stepped up to take a penalty kick in the 31st minute, but he was denied by the Leathernecks keeper. Western Illinois grabbed the lead less than three minutes later, going up 2-1 late in the first half. Despite trailing, Lindenwood compiled eight shots, including six on goal in the first half.
The game continued with the 2-1 score until the 75th minute, as
Roland Dearborn found the back of the net, tying the game 2-2. Western Illinois scored a late goal with three minutes remaining taking a 3-2 lead. The Leathernecks would hang onto the lead and pick up the victory.
