GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood killed off an early powerplay opportunity for Minnesota in the first frame, which helped the Lions get their footing as they generated the next three shot attempts after the kill. Matt Ladd compiled six saves in the early going, while Lindenwood blocked another six Gopher shot attempts. Minnesota took the lead at the 12:02 mark, going up 1-0.

Shortly after, the Lions got their legs moving in the offensive zone, with Kyle Jeffers, who had a trio of opportunities late in the opening period. The aforementioned Jeffers would tie it up, 1-1 on the man advantage at the 15:07 mark, assisted by David Gagnon and Caleb Price, teaming up for Lindenwood's first Division I goal. Minnesota would regain the lead just over two minutes later, going up 2-1. In total, Lindenwood compiled seven shots in the opening period, while going a perfect 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.

The pace of play picked up in the second period as Lindenwood earned an early man advantage opportunity, which presented some quality looks, but the Lions were unable to capitalize. A few minutes later, Hunter Johannes found himself all alone on a breakaway and buried it, tying the game 2-2 at the 5:46 mark of the second frame. Andy Willis picked up an assist on the score.  Lindenwood kept the momentum going as Adam Conquest scored his first goal as a Lion, which was assisted by Jackson Wozniak, capping off two goals in 1:15, giving Lindenwood a 3-2 lead in the second period.

Minnesota scored two goals in less than three minutes to regain the lead. Ladd settled everything down in the second period, making 19 total saves, keeping the game close. The Lions blocked another 14 shots in the frame, as they trailed 4-3 after 40 minutes of play.
