Men's Hockey Earns Road Victory Over Bentley, 7-3

The Lindenwood men's hockey team (2-7-0) picked up its first road win of the year, defeating Bentley (1-5-0, 0-0-0 AHA) by a score of 7-3 on Friday night from Waltham, Mass. '
 
GAME OVERVIEW
The opening period was a back-and-forth battle as shots were 14-13 in favor of the Falcons. It would be Lindenwood who would score the first goal of the game at the 15:52 mark as Aiden Yakimchuk was able to get one past the goaltender after attempts from Ryan Finnegan and David Gagnon were denied. Trent Burnham was sharp in the first period, stopping all 14 shots.
 
The Falcons tied the game early in the second, making the score 1-1 at the 2:31 mark o fthe middle frame. A minute later, Hunter Johannes gave Lindenwood the lead once again, assisted by Coltan Wilkie and Cade DeStefani,. The Lindenwood offense kept rolling, seeing Kyle Jeffers and Ryan Finnegan extend the Lindenwood lead before the halfway point of the period Gagnon assisted on both goals, increasing his point total to three on the night. The Falcons pulled one back shortly after, as the score was 4-2 after 40 minutes of play.
 
Bentley pulled within one at the 3:53 mark of the third period, making it a 4-3 game. Lindenwood killed a penalty a few minutes later and started to settle back in. Andy Willis gave the Lions some cushion at the 13:12 mark at 5-3. Gagnon sealed the victory and a four-point night, finding the empty net with less than three minutes to go. For good measure, Shane Lavelle scored his first goal of the year, with Lindenwood picking up a 7-3 victory in the series opener.
