Lindenwood junior swimmer
Matheo Mateos-Mongelos is competing in the 2022 South American (SA) games in his hometown of Asuncion, Paraguay. The games began on October 1 and run through October 15.
Mateos competed in the 200IM on Monday, earning a time of 2:03.34, good for a fourth-place finish. He also participated in the 4X100 Medley Relay with Team Paraguay, as the squad compiled a time of 3:46.44, finishing fourth. A native of Paraguay, Mateos had his best finish in the 400IM, recording a time of 4:24.64.
His 400 IM was a new Paraguayan national record, and he made the qualification standard for the 2023 world aquatic championships in Fukuoka Japan.
The SA Games take place every 4 years, with the multi-sport competition produced by the South American Sports Organization (ODESUR). Countries within South America, Central America, as well as the Caribbean are able to participate.
