The Lindenwood women's hockey team (0-6-0, 0-2-0 CHA) heads to Syracuse, N.Y., to take on the Syracuse University Orange (3-7-1, 2-0-0 CHA) in a two-game series, which begins on Friday at 5:00 p.m. CT. The series finale from Tennity Ice Pavilion is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CT.
Â
Lindenwood fell in both games to No. 12 Penn State last weekend by scores of 4-3 and 7-0, respectively. The two-game set served as the home-opening series for the Lions as well as the start of conference play. It was also the first games in 28 days for the team.
Â
After entering the series without a powerplay tally, Lindenwood scored twice on the man advantage in game one, as
Rachel Goff and
Morgan Neitzke each found the back of the net on the man advantage. Neitzke finished the game with two goals and now leads the team with five on the year.
Â
The Lions picked up a win over the Orange last season, while Goff and Neitzke played a big role in the victory. Goff had a pair of goals, while Neitzke had a goal and an assist, including the empty-netter, which sealed the win.
Â
Natalie Ferenc made 42 saves in game one as the West Bloomfield, Mich. native continues to play well between the pipes. The senior netminder has made 30 or more saves in all three of her starts this season, including a career-high 66 against No. 5 Wisconsin earlier this year. Through four games, Ferenc has compiled a .912 save percentage, while averaging 39 saves per contest.
Â
The Orange are coming off a series sweep of RIT, defeating the Tigers by scores of 1-0 and 4-1. So far this season, Syracuse is 3-7-1, including a 2-0-0 mark inside conference play.
