Roller Hockey Sweeps Three from Bethel (Tenn.) in MCRHL Action

Roller hockey swept all three games against Bethel (Tenn.) University in Midwest Collegiate Roller Hockey League (MCRHL) action Saturday and Sunday at All-American Sports Mall in St. Louis, Missouri.

In the opening contest Saturday morning, the Lions fell behind the Wildcats early in the first period before finishing the game with four unanswered goals and a 4-1 victory. Connor Bradley led the offense with two goals and was named Star #1 for the game. Clayton Liefeld and Jack Wedoski accounted for the other two Lindenwood goals and received Star #2 and Star #3 honors respectively. The Lions outshot Bethel 16 to 10 and Jacob Robinson stopped nine of the 10 shots he faced to earn the win in goal for Lindenwood.

Game two of the series was played later Saturday afternoon and the Lions skated to a much easier 10-1 victory. Liefeld and Nathan Durrans each scored a hat trick and helped on two other goals. Liefeld earned Star #1 honors and Durrans was named Star #2. Christian Acosta received Star #3 honors after scoring twice and assisting on two other goals. Bradley and Bennett Blake each scored once for Lindenwood. The Lions outshot Bethel 26-7 and Robinson earned his second win of the day with six saves on seven shots.

In the final game of the series Sunday morning, Lindenwood shutout the Wildcats 9-0. Bradley was named Star #1 with three goals and three assists, Liefeld earned Star #2 honors with two goals and one assist, and Brett Worster received Star #3 recognition with a goal and two assists. Durrans, Blake, and Acosta each added single goals for the Lions, who outshot Bethel 24-12. Robinson earned his third victory of the weekend with 12 saves on the 12 shots he faced.

Roller hockey begins it season with a 3-0 record. The Lions return to action in the MCRHL on the road in Huntingdon, Tennessee November 19-20. Lindenwood is scheduled to play Michigan State D2 at 12 p.m., Bethel University at 4 p.m., and Henry Ford Community College at 11 p.m. on Saturday, followed by one contest against Ohio State at 10 a.m. on Sunday. All games will be played at the Bethel Wildcat Arena.
