Rarick Scores in Defeat for Women’s Hockey

The Lindenwood women's hockey team (5-20-1, 3-8-1 CHA) suffered a 3-1 setback at RIT (1-25-3, 1-11-2 CHA) on Saturday afternoon in Rochester, N.Y. Despite the loss, Lindenwood secured the edge in the season series with a 2-1-1 record.
 
GAME OVERVIEW
The opening frame concluded in a scoreless tie and the game would remain without a goal until the 13:16 mark of the second period. While on the power play, RIT broke through with the afternoon's first score to take a one-goal lead. Just over seven minutes later, the home team would extend its advantage to a 2-0 margin with an even-strength goal. RIT carried its two-goal lead into the final period.
 
RIT added another score with just under 13 minutes remaining in the game, bringing its lead to 3-0 over Lindenwood. Exactly four minutes later, the Lions got themselves on the board, as Casey Adimey and Sierra Burt assisted Sydney Rarick for the score. For Rarick, the goal was her fifth of the season and second in the last three games for Lindenwood. Unfortunately for the Lions, they were unable to pull closer than 3-1 before the third period came to a close.

Julia Maguire made the start in goal for Lindenwood, turning in 18 saves. Maddison Stitt, Thea Jorgensen, and Burt tied for the team lead in shots on goal with four apiece. In the end, the Lions outshot the Tigers by a 34-21 margin for the game.

UP NEXT
The Lions will return home to Centene Community Ice Center for their final home series of the season on February 18-19. Lindenwood will host Mercyhurst for a two-game series, with puck drops scheduled for 6:00 PM and 12:10 PM.
